For the second year in a row, the Australian Open is starting on a Sunday which, for me, is actually tonight!
Felix Auger-Aliassime, Gael Monfils, Madison Keys, and McCartney Kessler (who I saw win in Cleveland last summer) all took titles in the tournaments leading into the AO, but those are rarely indicators of how well these players will do in a Slam.
Unfortunately, ESPN has near exclusive coverage of all the tennis Grand Slams, including the Australian. Since I’ve cut cable, my only options for watching matches live are ESPN+ and a streaming service which carries the ESPN channels. Fortunately, Sling TV has an intro offer of $23 for the first month, which covers the channels, and I already have ESPN+, so I can watch tennis to my heart’s content.
When I’m not able to watch, I still want to follow the matches. Fortunately, the Grand Slams all provide live radio play by play via their apps, which are usually more interesting and entertaining than the TV commentators. There are also a ton of tennis podcasts I can listen to when there are no matches taking place. Two of them, The Body Serve ands The Tennis Podcast, are my personal favorites.
