VIDEO – The ONE THING You Can Do to Fight Fascism RIGHT NOW

We are in a fight for democracy in the United States. That fight is against Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and their supporters who have chosen fascism, authoritarianism, and white supremacy over life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness FOR ALL PEOPLE. One of the weapons these fascists use is instilling fear in those who would oppose them, leading to uncertainty, doubt, and, most importantly, inaction.

If we are to win our battle against fascism and authoritarianism, and this is a battle we can win, we need to follow the advice presented in this video from Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin and The Ripple Effect Institute: Take action, and do it now. Waiting for that “perfect” action or a “perfect” leader only allows the fascists to continue to move forward and push the needle further to the right.

The video:

Actions you can take:

  • Call your representatives regarding the issues you care about. 5 Calls is an excellent resource providing call scripts and phone numbers related to a number of those issues.
  • Find others in your communities which share your concerns and are working to push the needle away from extremism. I, for example, am on the leadership team for my local Indivisible group.
  • Become active with your local library, school board, and/or other local government groups. I attend my local library’s board of trustees meetings each month.

Every time we push back, we prevent fascism from gaining ground, plus we see that we’re not alone in this fight.
