I post this not for the sake of discussion, as the time for that has long passed. I post this video to bring awareness to the human rights atrocities which ICE and the United States government are committing on its own citizens as well as on people who have come to this country hoping for a better life and who, in turn, make this country better.
Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, the Republican Party, and organizations like ICE are racially profiling Hispanics, regardless of their citizenship status, kidnapping them, forcibly separating families, and holding them in conditions which are inhumane. Those conditions are laid out by the press conference participants in the video. What’s more, ICE agents have illegally and immorally attacked the non-violent protesters exercising their First Amendment rights, using tactics which are considered war crimes under the Geneva Convention.
These facts are not debatable. They are documented and reported on, as also mentioned during the press conference, by local Chicago media. Just because the national news media has failed their journalistic duties does not mean this is not happening.
I call upon our local, state, and federal representatives to add their voices to those of the protestors and those government officials who are already speaking out. The light is shining on the truth of the fascist activities of the Trump administration and their supporters. We need that light to shine brighter.
Shut down ICE. Shut down fascism. Support freedom for ALL people, regardless of who they are or where they may be from.
