While I am not a fan of Microsoft‘s software and services for my personal use, I do work at a managed service provider which lives and breathes Microsoft, both internally as well as for our clients who make use of Microsoft 365 subscriptions and applications. One of those applications is OneDrive, which we install and configure on our client computers to back up their user profiles, both as a data safety net and as a way to ease the process of migrating users to new computers when called for.
While the existing version of OneDrive is useful for file storage and syncing, Microsoft has big plans for this utility, especially in the area of AI. As the TWiT podcast network host Paul Thurrott explains, Microsoft is rolling out an overhauled version of OneDrive. The new version, while still handling your files, adds a focus on photo management, as well as significant Copilot integration.
You may already have access to this version of OneDrive, though it’s not active as of yet. Follow Paul’s instructions in the article below to see if you can run the new OneDrive and check it out.
