My final TubaChristmas of the season was also, by far, the largest I attended, with about 600 low brass players on the stage.

A poster for "Tuba Christmas" events held every December, featuring images of tubas and holiday decorations. It includes the website for more information and is framed in a silver-colored frame. The event is associated with E.J. Thomas Hall at the University of Akron.

Signal Akron covered the event, featuring some great photos of the event, as well as reporting on a special moment for Tucker Jolly, who started Akron TubaChristmas 45 years ago:

This year, University of Akron emeritus professor Tucker Jolly, the founder of the original Akron TubaChristmas in 1980, was honored with a proclamation from Mayor Shammas Malik that declared Dec. 20, 2025, “Tucker Jolly Day.” The document thanked Jolly for “bringing the joy of the holidays” to Akron residents for 45 years.

A large brass band is performing on stage in a packed auditorium. Musicians are dressed in festive attire, including holiday hats, and various brass instruments are prominently displayed. The conductor is visible at the front, with the audience seated in tiers in the background.

A member of the audience, Mary Barker, posted a video on YouTube from the performance. You MIGHT see me in the back left corner of the group, hanging with the Sousaphones.

At one point during the concert, the brought the stage and house lights down, allowing the decorations on the instruments (and some of the players, too) shine.

A group of musicians plays festive brass instruments, including tubas and euphoniums, illuminated with colorful lights in a concert setting. Some musicians wear holiday-themed attire, and sheet music is visible in the foreground.

Here’s the view from the audience, thanks to YouTube user gpt7842.

I even tried grabbing a video of myself playing.

Have a merry TubaChristmas and I hope to see you at a concert next year!
