Indians Edge Past Tigers, 9-8
The Detroit Tigers got a superb performance from first baseman C.J. Cron. Still, it wasn’t enough to beat Cleveland. The Indians won the game, 9-8. Cron was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Adam Cimber earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Cleveland, now 3-6, is off to a slow start.
Late-game drama came in the top of the 11th inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Greg Allen, hit a double. It helped Cleveland seize the win.
“I like how we battled to the end,” said Allen.
