2020 COVID-19 Season Game 10
Getting back to my winning ways, as well as getting back to clobbering Detroit.
5-Hit Blitz by Allen

No matter what the Detroit Tigers threw at him today, Greg Allen hit it. He easily handled Tigers pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Indians to a 15-11 triumph at Comerica Park.

“The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball,” he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.

Told of Allen’s quip, Tigers skipper Ron Gardenhire said he “would take him up on that next time.”

Greg Allen singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

Allen is hitting .385 for the season with no home runs, 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 15 hits in 39 at-bats and played in 10 games.

FINALLY. Ends a 6 game losing streak. First game and win in extra innings. First save for Brad Hand.
Indians Edge Past Tigers, 9-8

The Detroit Tigers got a superb performance from first baseman C.J. Cron. Still, it wasn’t enough to beat Cleveland. The Indians won the game, 9-8. Cron was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Adam Cimber earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Cleveland, now 3-6, is off to a slow start.

Late-game drama came in the top of the 11th inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Greg Allen, hit a double. It helped Cleveland seize the win.

“I like how we battled to the end,” said Allen.

This one hurt, both because of the 13 strikeouts by my offense and my starter giving up 3 in the 8th after a dominant performance to that point.
Tigers Come Back Late to Clip Indians

Detroit starter Daniel Norris pitched effectively against the Cleveland Indians at Comerica Park. The left-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. The win belongs to Ethan DeCaster in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Zach Plesac took the loss for Cleveland. With the win, Detroit is 3-4.

Jonathan Schoop tagged a home run off Zach Plesac in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run blast put the Tigers on top, 4-2. In all, Schoop had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.

After the game, Detroit manager Ron Gardenhire applauded the team’s effort. “They busted their tails out there,” he said.

5 losses in a row. I might be out of a job by the All-Star break.
Tigers Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start

Detroit second baseman Jonathan Schoop was a significant contributor in his team’s 6-3 triumph over the Cleveland Indians. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Detroit. The winner was Jordan Zimmermann, who threw 105 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Joe Jimenez nailed down his 2nd save.

Schoop had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a solo home run. The Tigers went on to win.

“Everyone’s trying too hard,” said losing manager Kevin Gamin. “If we learn to relax, we’ll be fine.”

Detroit is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 2nd in 6 games.

Tigers Rally For Late Win Over Indians

Fans who gathered at Progressive Field saw a good contest between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians.

Tigers center fielder Victor Reyes put his stamp on his team’s 6-4 win over the Cleveland Indians. Reyes went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for Detroit in the contest. John Schreiber came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.

Detroit used a clutch hit from Cameron Maybin to get the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

“We’ll build on this win,” said Maybin.

Detroit is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 1st in 3 games.
