Rays Turn Back Cleveland, 8-7
The Tampa Bay Rays reigned over the Cleveland Indians in damp conditions at Progressive Field.
The Tampa Bay Rays relied on the hitting of left fielder Austin Meadows to stop the Cleveland Indians, 8-7. For the game, Meadows went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Nick Anderson closed the game out for Tampa Bay, earning his 5th save.
Tampa Bay relied on the bat of Hunter Renfroe to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rays ahead, 8-4. For the game, Renfroe had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
“Enjoyed this one,” Renfroe told the Tampa Bay Daily. “But it’s back to work tomorrow.”
The Indians fall to 5-9 and continue their wobbly start to the 2020 season.
