5 innings of great baseball, then the bottom dropped out big time.
Indians Stumble, Lose to Rays

Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Brendan McKay pitched effectively against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field, leading his team to a 9-2 win. McKay, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. The Indians fall to 5-10 and continue their lackluster start to the 2020 season.

Hunter Renfroe helped out the Tampa Bay cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 5 with 2 singles.

“Winning never gets dull,” said Renfroe.

And then my starting pitching failed again…
Rays Turn Back Cleveland, 8-7

The Tampa Bay Rays reigned over the Cleveland Indians in damp conditions at Progressive Field.

The Tampa Bay Rays relied on the hitting of left fielder Austin Meadows to stop the Cleveland Indians, 8-7. For the game, Meadows went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Nick Anderson closed the game out for Tampa Bay, earning his 5th save.

Tampa Bay relied on the bat of Hunter Renfroe to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rays ahead, 8-4. For the game, Renfroe had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

“Enjoyed this one,” Renfroe told the Tampa Bay Daily. “But it’s back to work tomorrow.”

The Indians fall to 5-9 and continue their wobbly start to the 2020 season.

“We didn’t have it today.” No shit, me, the score made that pretty clear.
5-Hit Game for Lindor

Francisco Lindor was at the head of a Cleveland Indians hit parade today at Target Field. The 26-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Minnesota Twins that marched off with the 11-4 win.

“We didn’t have it today,” griped Indians skipper Kevin Gamin following the game. “Francisco did fine, but as a team, we didn’t do it with the bats and we didn’t do it pitching.”

Lindor did more than fine, dominating the Twins at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance.

“Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere,” the sweet-swinging shortstop told reporters. “When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats.”

Francisco Lindor singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

This season Lindor is batting .431 with 15 RBIs, 12 runs scored and 3 home runs.

Ouch. And with my best pitcher on the mound.
Twins Cuff Indians, 13-1

The Minnesota Twins defeated the Cleveland Indians, 13-1, at Target Field. Minnesota first baseman Miguel Sano had a superb performance. He was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The Indians drop to 4-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2020 season.

With Minnesota leading 8-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Sano came up to bat against Cleveland pitcher James Hoyt. Sano hit a slider to left-center for a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Twins on top, 12-1.

“I had a good game,” said Sano. “Winning makes it even better.”

White Sox Rally For Late Win Over Indians

A 3-RBI performance from Yasmani Grandal, who is a two-time All-Star, helped the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians, 8-7. Aaron Bummer got the save, the 1st for him this season. The win takes Chicago to 2-2.

With Chicago leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth, Grandal hit a 2-run single off Cleveland hurler Adam Plutko. It was the 3rd hit of the season for Grandal and put his team ahead, 5-1.

“You can’t get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I’m just happy we got the win,” Grandal told the Chicago Gazette.

Tigers Rally For Late Win Over Indians

Fans who gathered at Progressive Field saw a good contest between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians.

Tigers center fielder Victor Reyes put his stamp on his team’s 6-4 win over the Cleveland Indians. Reyes went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for Detroit in the contest. John Schreiber came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.

Detroit used a clutch hit from Cameron Maybin to get the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

“We’ll build on this win,” said Maybin.

Detroit is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 1st in 3 games.

Out Of The Park Baseball 21 – 2020 COVID-19 Season

It was supposed to be opening day for the 2020 Major League Baseball season on Thursday, March 26. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed the start of the season with no known time frame for when play could start. I’ve decided not to way, so, on Thursday, I purchased the latest version of Out Of The Park Baseball, one of the most robust and popular baseball simulation games available. Today is my first chance to create my 2020 COVID-19 season and begin play as my hometown team, the Cleveland Indians.
