It’s Allentown weekend, so it’s appropriate to look back at one of the most energetic rain performances in drum corps history.
I was in the stands for this one, and I wasn’t the only person who stayed along with the Glassmen as they pushed through the elements. As you can see in the video, the corps got WET, but that just made them up their performance level, at least until they were told to stop as lightning was close enough to the stadium to require evacuating the field and the stands.
The storm would pass and the Glassmen would return to the field and perform their full show without interruption or further rain. The corps would end the season in 12ᵗʰ place, returning to Finals after missing out in 2003. It was that rain soaked night in Allentown in 2004, however, which we look back to with fondness.
