Despite America’s own best (worst) efforts, we’ve managed to make it through 2024.
I had four goals at the start of the year. How did I do with them?
2024 Winking Lizard World Tour of Beers
While I made progress on my tour, I came up fifteen beers short of my goal, finishing the year with 85 out of 100 unique beers experienced. You can check out each of the beers I drank under this category.
Minimize Big Tech Reliance
This fell off my radar pretty early, as I barely made it into March before I stopped working on this goal. I still have a lot of stuff on Google services and I’m not even sure what to do about Facebook since that appears to be where a lot of my drum corps related website hits currently come from. This is something I do want to achieve, however. I just need to figure out how. You can see what steps I did take earlier this year under this category.
Read Every Day
I’ve hit my stride with this goal, though I can’t say I’ve read EVERY day of this year. Still, looking at the results, I’ve read more than I have over the previous two years combined. In fact, for the first time, I’ve met the average of 1 book a week I used to set for my goal!
I also switch my reading tracking to StoryGraph, as I find it’s functionality much more user friendly, plus they have apps for iOS and Android devices on top of their web interface. Like most online services, they also provide a wrap-up for the year, which you can view here.
Write A Daily Post On My Site
Around the same time I lost focus on my tech reliance goal, I also ran into issues staying on course with this goal. Fortunately, I’ve found my stride over the past few months, and I am glad to report that I wrote 391 posts this year. I am also enjoying a 135 day posting streak, including this post today, which I get to carry into the new year. Of course, you’re already on my site if you’re reading this post, so feel free to scroll through and enjoy everything I’ve posted this year and during previous years.
I already have a good idea of what my 2025 intentions are, but let’s wait until next year to start talking about them, shall we?
Happy New Year!
