Drum Corps Is BACK In Theaters!

In 2024, Drum Corps International made the decision to end the long running Big, Loud, & Live cinecast of the DCI World Championships Prelims. With attendance declining, especially after COVID-19 arrived, the cinecast was becoming a financial issue for DCI to support and continue. It appears, though, that there is a lot of support to bring Big, Loud, & Live back. Per DCI’s article on the cinecast’s return:

“The corps were in strong favor of bringing this program back and confident that our fans will turn out in big numbers,” said DCI CEO Nate Boudreaux. “We’re hopeful that this renewed support helps ensure ‘Big, Loud & Live’ continues as a part of future seasons.”

Steve Rondinaro, long time host of DCI’s television, Internet, and cinecast events, points out four things which Big, Loud, & Live does for the activity:

1. It further establishes us as Marching Music’s Major League. We’re live on the big screen again. 

2. It gives our performers, the corps members, another stage worthy of their dedication and commitment to excellence. 

3.  Those DCI-produced Big, Loud & Live promotional trailers that will be running in theaters through July and into August will bring awareness to thousands of people who’ve never heard of us.

4. A social event and shared experience.
