Tigers Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
Detroit second baseman Jonathan Schoop was a significant contributor in his team’s 6-3 triumph over the Cleveland Indians. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Detroit. The winner was Jordan Zimmermann, who threw 105 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Joe Jimenez nailed down his 2nd save.
Schoop had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a solo home run. The Tigers went on to win.
“Everyone’s trying too hard,” said losing manager Kevin Gamin. “If we learn to relax, we’ll be fine.”
Detroit is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 2nd in 6 games.
