September 2021 Boston Crusaders Mystery Box Reveal

Kevin GaminJuly 13, 2023

One box remains…

A black box with a white silhouette of Waldo, the Boston Crusaders mascot and log, on the right.

I was cleaning off my table when I discovered this Waldo embossed box. It’s been nearly two years, but I still had one Boston Crusaders mystery box, unopened and unappreciated, waiting for me to unveil its secrets to the world.

For those of you who don’t recall, Boston offered drum corps fans a subscription series of “mystery boxes”, loaded with goodies from the corps, during 2021. This was a way for the corps to make some much needed money while we were still in the middle of a pandemic, as well as a way for the corps to get fans excited for the DCI Celebration tour which the Crusaders took part in that summer as

As with the other boxes I received, the contents of this box were shrouded in secrecy even after I opened it up. Black tissue paper embossed with a white BAC sticker, just waiting for me to peel back and unwrap the goodies within.

One nice thing about the Crusaders is that they give you a way to carry your mystery box stuff once it’s no longer a mystery. This box featured a canvas tote bag with the corps name and Waldo logo on the side.

This is the week of free headgear for me, it seems. I picked up a Cleveland Guardians Jose Ramirez bucket hat last Saturday, and now I own an all black baseball cap, complete with black Waldo above the bill.,

The items got more interesting at this point, as I next pulled two Waldo ping pong balls and a 2021 Zoom glass. Could this be a beer pong combination?

It just might be, as I next found a red Boston Crusaders bottle opener, the kind which slips into your back pocket or hangs on a hook near the fridge, ready to pop open a cold one for your enjoyment.

What if wine is more your style, though? Don’t worry, BAC’s got you covered with this red wine bottle stopper, perfect for keeping your bottle of wine nice and fresh after you open it. The top of the stopper is silver with the Waldo logo embossed on it.

No matter what you’re drinking, you hate to leave messy rings on your tables from your glass. This pair of Boston Crusaders coasters will keep that from happening, as well as help prevent your glass from sliding off the table if it gets bumped.

Finally, we have a deck of Boston Crusaders playing cards. Whether you’re into poker, euchre, cribbage, hearts, or any other card game, these cards are ready for you to play a few hands as you enjoy your favorite beverage.
