One nice thing about my FloMarching subscription is that they replay each drum corps show they broadcast 24 hours later. This gave me a chance to relive Finals again, this time from the multi-cam perspective. Even one day after the season ended, I saw things in every show I hadn’t caught before. Here are some examples.
- Marines – That arrangement of Caravan was AMAZING!
- Madison Scouts – I did not realize the flag poles during your ballad were bent at an angle to go with the props and other equipment’s angular design.
- Cavaliers – I saw the eyes in the drill for the first time yesterday from the box. Today, I saw the eyes on the guard uniforms for the first time.
- Troopers – The mellophone in the brass trio giving “demented evil” face before playing and the tenors giving the Vulcan salute after their feature leading into Santa Esmeralda.
- Colts – One of the guard members lays flowers at one of the during On Flanders Field.
- Blue Stars – While the drum major switched away from the old color guard hot pants to a dress, one of the guard members on the field is wearing them.
- Mandarins – The musician costumes are not all the same shade of blue. Also, there’s a slick low brass counter melody in the opening statement.
- Santa Clara Vanguard – The undershirt sleeves of the brass are red, but the percussionists are wearing black.
- Carolina Crown – The timpani player has their drums set up German style, with the largest drum on their right and the smallest on their left.
- Phantom Regiment – Aside from the guard wearing colors while the musicians wear only black and white, all of the guard uniforms are unique designs, while the musician uniforms are identical.
- Blue Devils – There is an intricate pattern on the right leg of the musicians’ uniforms.
- Boston Crusaders – The second tine you hear Brandt Crocker’s voice, during the closer, he “glitches” by announcing them presenting their 2025 program.
- Bluecoats – Before the final impact of the show, the trombone soloist gestures back at the corps, as if to beckon them forward to finish their performance.
What are some things you’ve noticed from these shows thanks to multiple viewings?
